Swim with Penguins at Boulders Beach Colony

An Unforgettable Day with African penguins

Swim Among Penguins at Boulders Beach Colony

Join us on a fascinating 5-hour tour to meet these extraordinary flightless birds, known for their distinctive braying similar to donkeys. At Boulders Beach, nestled along False Bay near Simon’s Town, you’ll have an up-close encounter with African penguins.

This excursion promises a day filled with fun and the opportunity to interact with our unique Boulders Beach African penguin colony. You’ll travel in comfort in luxurious air-conditioned vehicles stocked with bottled water, guided by a knowledgeable professional driver.

Our itinerary begins with a scenic route along Chapman’s Peak to Simon’s Town, where you’ll be picked up from your hotel between 8:30 and 9:30 am. Upon arrival, our tuxedo-clad feathered friends await you on one of the region’s most picturesque beaches. If you fancy a swim with the penguins, don’t forget to bring your swimwear and a towel — it’s a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, including moms and toddlers.

At the end of this memorable day, we’ll ensure you’re dropped off back at your hotel.

Cape Town, city center

Camps Bay is the premier tourist destination in Cape Town, South Africa, and is magnificently located on the Atlantic Ocean, at the foot of the Twelve Apostles mountain range and adjacent to Table Mountain. Camps Bay is a suburb of Cape Town, with a village feel, offering a convenient location only 15 minutes drive to the city center, 20 minutes from the V&A Waterfront, 30 minutes from the airport, 40 minutes from the Cape Winelands and 60 minutes from Cape Point. You can safely walk to the Camps Bay beachfront during the day and at night.

Bantry Bay

Pass by to Bantry Bay, travel time is 9 minutes. Bantry Bay is an affluent and beautiful ocean facing suburb located in Cape Town and situated on the slopes of Lion's Head, overlooking a rocky coastline in the province of the Western Cape of South Africa. It was originally called Botany Bay after a botanical garden that was planted here for the cultivation of medicinal herbs many years ago. The name was changed during World War 1, and the area of Bantry Bay is one of Cape Town's most wonderful destinations to enjoy a holiday break to. With a variety of attactions close by and Cape Town's city centre only a short drive away you can be sure that there will be adventures to enjoy and so much to explore as you-visit. Bantry Bay offers amazing ocean views and also displays some spectacular sunsets. The suburb itself is overlooked by Lion's Head, which is the eroded core of an ancient volcano, and the magnificent presence of Table Mountain creates the background for you during your stay.

Hout Bay

Travel time to pass by Hout Bay is 24 minutes. Hout Bay has become very popular as a seaside resort town with its unique location at the start of the Atlantic Seaboard and yet still only thirty minutes drive from most of Cape Towns top attractions. Hout Bay is recognised as one of South Africa’s leading destinations for local tourists and has become a popular place for international tourists to base their South African holiday. A growing bed and breakfast industry supports the demand from holidaymakers. Hout Bay real estate now includes holiday accommodation, family homes ranging from apartments to seaview properties in security estates.

Chapman’s Peak Drive

Travel time is 15 minutes to Chapman’s Peak Drive which is affectionately known as “Chappies” and is a must for anyone who is passionate about the majestic Cape Town scenery, with sheer drops to the sea below and towering mountains rising above you. The twists and curves in the road seem endless and it is a photographers dream. It is a paradise for motorists, sightseers, picnickers, runners, hikers and bikers (both the motorised and the manual varieties). We will stop for another 15 minutes. The 9km route, with its 114 curves, skirts the rocky coastline of Chapman’s Peak (593m), which is the southerly extension of Constantiaberg and is a great hike for the energetically inclined. The drive offers stunning 180° views with many areas along the route where you can stop and take in the exquisite scenery or sit down for a relaxing picnic.

Noordhoek Village

We proceed in 6 minutes through Noordhoek with the option of 30 minutes stopping for the finest roasted coffee at The Village Roast on this route.

Travel time is 17 minutes to Simon’s Town which is one of South Africa’s oldest towns, situated 35km outside Cape Town. This neighborhood is renowned for its rich maritime history and is home to the South African Navy, which holds a festival in the town every April. Simon’s Town is really an attraction in its own right, and you will need to set a full day to fully explore it.

Boulders beach , African penguin, Simon's town

30 minutes travel time to Boulders beach which is home to the endangered African penguin. It is also one of the only 2 mainland penguin colonies in South Africa. Since they were listed on the red list of endangered species, a boardwalk was constructed to restrict too much human interruption at the penguin colony. However guest can still get very close to the penguin and get close up pictures albeit without having to be standing on the beach but the boardwalk.

Fish Hoek

15 minutes travel time to Fish Hoek which is a coastal town at the eastern end of the Fish Hoek Valley on the False Bay side of the Cape Peninsula in the Western Cape, South Africa. Previously a separate municipality, Fish Hoek is now part of the City of Cape Town. As a coastal suburb of Cape Town, Fish Hoek is popular as a residence for commuters, retired people and holidaymakers alike. The traditional industries of 'trek' fishing and angling coexist with the leisure pursuits of surfing, although nearby Kommetjie is usually favoured, sailing and sunbathing. There is an active lifeguard community who utilise the beach and bay for training

Kalk Bay

7 minutes travel time to the gem on the False Bay coastline, Kalk Bay is known for its raw beauty, interesting shops, a vast selection of restaurants and stunning views. You could easily spend a full day in this little neighbourhood and still not be able to experience it all.

Muizenberg Beach

13 minutes travel time to Muizenberg, or “Muizies” as it’s affectionately known, is a vibrant coastal town located 27km (around 30 minutes) from the Cape Town City Centre. We will stop for 30 minutes. Known for its warm waters and surfing culture, Muizenberg offers the perfect setting for families to come together and make lasting memories. It’s no wonder that the beachfront is always buzzing with energy and enthusiasm. But Muizenberg is not just about the beach. As you venture away from the sandy shorelines, you’ll stumble upon an array of quirky shops and unique architecture that define the town’s bohemian charm. From charming bookshops to delightful bric-a-brac stores and mouth-watering eateries, Muizies embraces a home-grown culture that is truly one of a kind. In Muizenberg, you’ll get to experience the best of both worlds – a vibrant city life along with a tranquil coastal escape
